Schedule of Care

Antenatal Visits

The booking visit can take 1 - 2 hours and the necessary paperwork will be completed which you will retain throughout your care with me. Following discharge from my care, I will give you a full copy and will store the original notes, as is legally required. I will liaise directly with your GP and any other health professional such as obstetricians or health visitors as per need, before, during and after the birth.

Antenatal visits follow the traditional pattern of frequency and last up to an hour each time. They would usually take place during weekdays between 9am and 5pm as women are entitled to time off of work for their antenatal care. Exceptions to this are if I have to attend another woman in labour and cancel the appointment or occasionally by special request so that the partner can be present, for example.

Labour And Birth

With good preparation, you will know when it is time to have me attend you. However, most women benefit from contact by telephone with their midwife and support from their chosen supporters in the early part of labour. I join you once labour is establishing. Usually, I will remain for 2 - 3 hours following birth and thereafter postnatal care is flexible.

Postnatal Visits

Flexible visiting means on a need basis. If this is your first baby you may need a visit each day for 2 or 4 days and then becoming less often. Discharge to the Health Visitor will be between 10 and 28 days postnatally.

Our Agreement

This agreement is based on trust. My care is based on the information you give and I will offer information at all stages to enable you to make the choices and decisions most appropriate to you.
